Azele Studio Care Guide

Every piece at Azele Studio is made to last—and made to be lived with. This care guide offers simple, thoughtful ways to preserve the beauty of your handmade rugs, pottery, vintage objects, and sculptures. We believe caring for what you own is an act of sustainability, and with a few mindful habits, your pieces will continue to age with character, not wear.

How should I care for my handmade wool rugs?

General Maintenance (Hand-knotted, flatweave, runners)

  • Vacuum regularly using suction only — avoid rotating brushes or beater bars to protect the fibers.
  • Rotate your rug every few months to ensure even wear and exposure.
  • Use a rug pad to prevent slipping and to support the longevity of the weave.
  • Limit direct sunlight exposure to preserve the natural tones and avoid fading.

Spot Cleaning & Stain Removal

  • Act quickly: Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth — do not rub.
  • For light stains, use a soft cloth dampened with cold water and natural soap (such as Marseille soap). Dab gently, rinse with clean water, and blot dry.
  • Always test first on a small, hidden area to ensure colorfastness.

Professional Cleaning
For deeper cleaning or after extended use, we recommend contacting a professional who specializes in handmade rugs.

Wool, Natural Fibers & Shedding
Our rugs are almost exclusively hand-knotted from high-quality natural wool sourced in Morocco, with a select number of flatweave styles crafted for lighter, versatile applications.
In rare cases, a subtle blend of cotton may be used — always noted in the product description.
Light shedding is natural for wool rugs and will diminish with regular vacuuming. This is part of the authentic evolution of the fiber and does not affect the rug’s quality.

Sustainability Note
Each rug is handwoven with intention and made to last. Thoughtful care preserves both its character and the cultural heritage it embodies.

How should I care for my pottery pieces?

General Handling (Glazed, unglazed, vintage clay jars)

  • Handle with care to preserve the piece’s surface and structure.
  • For vintage or unglazed pottery, we recommend placing felt pads underneath if displayed on delicate surfaces.
  • Avoid sudden changes in temperature that could cause cracking — especially with older or handmade pieces.

Cleaning

  • Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth.
  • For glazed pottery, a slightly damp cloth can be used to gently wipe the surface.
  • Avoid soaking, abrasive sponges, or chemical cleaners.
  • Unglazed pottery should be kept dry and cleaned using a dry brush or cloth.

Water Use & Functionality

  • Most glazed pottery and sealed vases can safely hold water.
  • For unglazed or vintage pieces, we recommend using a watertight insert if you plan to display fresh flowers.
  • Never place pottery in the dishwasher or microwave.

Origin & Character

Handcrafted in southern Morocco by skilled artisans, each piece reflects generations of ceramic tradition.
Natural variations in glaze, patina, or texture are part of the story — and no two are ever alike.

How To Take Care Of My Wood Product?

For effective maintenance of your wood product’s natural luster, it’s recommended to employ a simple cleaning routine. Begin by utilizing a soft, dry cloth to gently eliminate dust and particles, thereby preserving the product’s inherent shine and appeal. This gentle approach not only keeps the wood’s surface clean but also enhances its overall aesthetic, ensuring its lasting beauty over time.

How should I care for my metal sculptures?

General Care (Handcrafted pieces from aged or reclaimed metals)

  • Dust regularly with a dry, soft microfiber cloth.
  • Avoid moisture, abrasive sponges, or chemical cleaning products.
  • Do not use water unless explicitly advised — oxidation may occur.

Surface & Finish

  • Slight irregularities, patinas, and textural contrasts are part of the sculptural identity.
  • If oxidation naturally develops over time, it can be gently buffed with a soft, dry cloth — or simply embraced as part of the evolving character of the piece.

Placement & Preservation

For indoor sculptures, we recommend displaying them on stable, flat surfaces, away from high humidity or direct heat sources.

Avoid placing them near windows where condensation or intense sunlight may alter the surface over time.

Craftsmanship Note
Each sculpture is shaped by hand in Morocco, often from aged or repurposed metal. Every piece is unique — born from transformation, and made to bring depth and presence to your space.

How should I care for my upcycled Haik fabric bags?

General Care (Handmade bags crafted from vintage Moroccan textiles)

  • Designed for everyday use, your bag is reinforced and durable enough to carry daily essentials comfortably.
  • Haik textiles are handwoven from natural fibers — typically wool, cotton, or a blend — and may show subtle irregularities that reflect their vintage origin.

Cleaning

  • For small marks, spot clean gently with cold water and mild soap using a soft cloth.
  • For a more thorough clean, we recommend professional dry cleaning only, due to the inner lining and construction of the bag.
  • Avoid machine washing, soaking, or using bleach.

Storage

  • Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight or humidity.
  • No special filling or shaping is required — your bag is made to be used and enjoyed.

Craftsmanship Note

Each bag is made from repurposed vintage Moroccan Haik — a textile rich in cultural heritage. Slight signs of wear are part of its story, and thoughtful care will ensure it continues to serve with both beauty and strength.
